Council looks to replace timber bridge

Published: 27 May 2020

Council will apply for State Government funding to replace a 60-year-old timber bridge on Behana George Road.

Behana Road Bridge No. 2 is a single span timber bridge built in 1960, and has required maintenance over the years.

It is a critical bridge in that it provides the only road access to the Behana Gorge Intake and Water Treatment Plant.

Council has estimated the cost of replacing the bridge at $1.22 million and is seeking $610,000 in funding under Round 5 of the Bridge Renewal Program.
