Australia’s Got Talent Season 5 Winner, Jack Vidgen, will headline Gympie Regional Council’s New Year’s Eve celebrations in Nelson Reserve on 31 December 2019.

The young superstar rose to fame after winning the fifth series of Australia's Got Talent in 2011 and again on The Voice “All Stars” in 2019 where he was eliminated in the semi-final.

Yesterday, Vidgen was announced as one of 10 singers who will be vying to be Australia’s entrant into the Eurovision Song Contest in February 2020. He will compete with big names like Casey Donovan, Vanessa Amorosi, and Mitch Tambo for the title of Eurovision Song Contestant.  Vidgen is the first of the 10 artists to already released his song entry, I Am King I Am Queen.

During Council’s New Year’s Eve 2020 event, Vidgen will be supported by local artist Alison Jensen, Aussie rockers Tennessee Lights and Fiona O’Shea and The Passengers.

The family-friendly event will kick off at 5pm and finish after the 9pm fireworks display.

Council encourages residents in the Town Centre to be mindful to keep pets secure or indoors during the fireworks display at 9pm.

Free rides and kid’s activities will also be held throughout the evening, as well as food stalls and a family friendly bar.

This is a free event.

The community is encouraged to bring along a blanket and/or chairs, with parking available around Memorial Park, IGA and throughout Mary Street.
