On Thursday 6 June, celebrate Queensland Day at Gympie Regional Libraries with a variety of fantastic FREE events.

Queensland Day is a celebration of Queensland’s birthday and its official separation from New South Wales as an independent colony on 6 June 1859.

The day is a fantastic opportunity to commemorate the state’s rich culture, heritage, people, places and industry.

At 9.30am, join in the fun as Gympie Regional Council Mayor Mick Curran will be at the Gympie library to read stories to children and help cut the special Queensland Day Cake.

At 10am, join us at the front of the heritage listed Council Chambers at 242 Mary Street Gympie, for a special Walk and Talk highlighting the history of the buildings in Upper Mary Street.

Join us at the Gympie library from 4pm to 5pm, for a meet and greet with Queensland author Jim Parsons, who will chat about how to write Australian fiction. Bookings essential.
