From Monday, 29 April 2019, the Goomeri Library will be a hive of activity as work begins to improve the library’s façade and outdoor area.

The works will improve access to the library with new pathways and landscaping, including shade trees.

Outdoor wooden seating will also be installed to provide the public with outdoor space to read and access the library’s wifi.

Councillor Dan Stewart welcomes the improvements noting that the Goomeri Library has seen an increase in the number of visitors, as well as an increase in borrowing rates over the past 12 months.

“This is a much-loved facility that is increasingly becoming a meeting place for the community so these improvements are an important addition for the town,” he said.

The library will maintain its usual opening hours during construction; however pedestrian access to the library will be through the back door off the breezeway. Council expects the works to be completed by 26 May 2019 in time for the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival.

The Goomeri Library Façade and Outdoor Upgrade project has been funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.
