Qld Waste Levy – reduced hours for tips and transfer stations

Posted on April 4, 2019

The Queensland Government is developing a new resource, recovery and waste strategy to help reduce the disposal of waste to landfill, increase recycling rates and recover valuable resources. The centrepiece of the strategy will be a waste disposal levy.

Householders with wheelie bins do not pay a levy, however business and commercial waste will pay a levy, which is expected to encourage more recycling and re-use of waste materials to reduce the amount payable.

The introduction of the levy, which council has to administer on behalf of the state government, means that some local tips and transfer stations will have their access and hours of operation reduced.

If you have any questions about the levy or the changes to your local facility, why not come to one of our drop-in information sessions being held around the region during April.
