Nominate a community hero

David Herbig, Council’s 2019 Citizen of the Year, said he was recognised for simply doing something he was passionate about – promoting the Herbig tree in Springton. “It was no effort at all – it was something I really loved doing and the award is the result of that,” David said. Council encourages people to nominate local community heroes in the following categories: Citizen of the Year  Young Citizen of the Year Community Event of the Year, and: Community Project of the Year The Australia Day Awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given an outstanding service over a number of years to a local community.  Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of the community.
