Charters Towers Regional Council has opened Round 1 of the Community Grants Programme, designed to empower and support community-driven projects that benefit the Charters Towers Region.

The Community Grants Programme, aligned with the goals outlined in Council’s 2023-2033 Community Strategic Plan, emphasises initiatives that significantly contribute to community well-being, economic vitality, and cultural enrichment.

Cr Julie Mathews said that by providing these grants, Council is able to support many not-for-profit organisations across the region to purchase equipment, upgrade facilities and reduce costs associated with running their events.

"In Round 2 last year, Council provided $32,641 in Community Grants to various organisations,” said Cr Mathews.

Funding can be used towards activities, services or programs relating to the arts, recreation, sports and other community related initiatives. Applications that demonstrate the greatest benefit to the Region will be considered favourably”, said Cr Mathews.

Not-for-profit organisations within the Charters Towers Region that are seeking funding have until Friday, 31 May 2024 to submit an application.
