Land Protection Officer

Come and work as a vital member of our Land Protection team here at Mareeba Shire Council, located within an easy one-hour drive from Cairns offering a regional lifestyle with all its benefits in relatively close proximity to Cairns.

The Role:

Our Land Protection Officer works in the great outdoors assisting with the implementation of pest plant and animal controls across the Shire.

The role involves physical work to be undertaken in hot, humid and difficult conditions and, as such, it is the responsibility of our Land Protection Officer to ensure they are physically fit and able to efficiently and consistently undertake these tasks.

This role will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.

What we are looking for:

You will be able to identify and report on pest plant and animal species while out in the field You will have a good working knowledge of the use of computers and GPS devices You will have well-developed communication and written skills You will enjoy working in a team environment and contribute in a positive manner You will be able to demonstrate your ability to use chemicals and poisons correctly
