Australia Day provides residents with the opportunity to celebrate all that is Australian and acknowledge active citizenship and achievement.

With our limited population and in an effort to make the 2024 Australia Day Awards more special, Barcoo Shire Council is taking a new approach to the Australia Day Awards by only awarding one overall award for the shire from worthy nominations received from the community.

The nomination categories for the community members for 2024 are:

Citizen of the year Young citizen of the year Volunteer of the year Senior sports award Junior sports award Cultural award

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Barcoo Shire Australia Day awards. Applications close 5pm, 24 November 2023 and must be submitted on the Barcoo Shire Council Australia Day Award Nomination Form (which can be downloaded below).
