Rolleston: Level 2 water restrictions in place, level 3 approaching fast.

Posted on October 31, 2023

Council wishes to advise residents of Rolleston that due to a combination of low storage supplies and higher than usual consumption, level 2 water restrictions will apply from Tuesday 31 October 2023.

At the current rate of consumption, residents can expect to move to level 3 restrictions within the next 7 days and it is expected that water will need to be transported from contingency supplies within the region by December 2023.

With the forecast for hot and dry weather and no relief in the form of rain predicted soon, council are urging residents to conserve water to help relieve pressure on the region’s supplies.

Council are reviewing consumption rates across all sites and implementing conservation strategies where appropriate.

For more information on current restrictions, watering times and guidelines, head to council’s water restrictions webpage here where you will find a detailed description of both the methods and times of approved water use and some FAQ’s.

Please note: recent firefighting efforts have not utilised town water supply.
