Road Closures

Main Road (along the foreshore) and Penguin Road (the old coast road) will be closed throughout the morning on Sunday 12 February 2023.

The road closure will extend from Johnsons Beach Road intersection, to the property at 241 Penguin Road, West Ulverstone.

The old coast road section, from Crescent Street (rail crossing) to West Ulverstone will be closed from 5am until 12pm midday.

The foreshore section of Main Road from Johnsons Beach Road to Crescent Street (rail crossing) will be closed from 5am to 2pm.

The below map shows the closed roads and affected streets.

Road closures will be marked on the day with barricades and traffic controllers at each end, as well as at each intersection.

A traffic cone marker will be placed in the access or driveway of the properties along the route, as a reminder to residents that the road closure is in place.

Early Re-Opening of Roads

Each of the running events has a cut-off time to complete.

If all participants are finished before this time, roads will be re-opened earlier.

Traffic cones will be removed from driveways by the traffic controllers when a road is re-opened.  This will help residents know if the road has been re-opened early.

Traffic cones must not be moved by residents.

Limited Access by Local Vehicles

Organisers and the Council recognise that road closures may impact residents and locals.

There may be need for car access which is unavoidable and critical – for example, for people who have shift work.

During road closures, there will be a lead escort car available to escort vehicles in or out of the closed section in a controlled, slow and safe manner.

A request for an escort vehicle will need to be arranged in advance.
