Gippsland Water and Baw Baw Shire Council have partnered to promote tap water as the drink of choice.

Gippsland Water managing director Sarah Cumming said new drinking fountains outside the West Gippsland Arts Centre in Warragul and the Turra Pavillion in Trafalgar will keep visitors, sports players and patrons hydrated.

“We’re so pleased to give locals a healthy choice by providing access to fresh and free drinking water at these busy venues,” Ms Cumming said.

“Our tap water tastes great, is good for you, and better for the environment than store-bought water.

Baw Baw Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Michael Leaney said the new fountains supported the Council’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.

“With the summer now in full swing and people spending more time outdoors getting active, we want to make sure everyone has abundant access to free, fresh drinking water.”

“We strongly advocate for health initiatives that support the betterment of the community. and Gippsland Water’s drinking fountain program is directly aligned with this vision.”

Every year, Gippsland Water partners with Baw Baw Shire to install new fountains in the area.

This year locals are invited to make a suggestion on where new fountains should be installed. To suggest a new fountain location, or to find out more about Gippsland Water’s drinking fountain program visit www.gippswater.com.au/drinking-fountain-locations.
