What Happens When The Polls Close? 2pm Tuesday 25th October 2022 At 2pm: ballot boxes located in local councils offices will be sealed and transported to the counting centres in Hobart and Invermay the extraction of ballot papers from anonymous (de-tagged) declaration envelopes will begin in Hobart (for southern councils) and Invermay (for north and northwest councils) By the end of Tuesday evening: all ballot papers will be returned to the counting centres, extracted and balanced data entry of councillor ballot papers will commence for a limited number of councils

Wednesday 26 October

Morning commencement of hand throws of mayor ballot papers Afternoon commencement of hand throws of deputy mayor ballot papers Mayor and deputy mayor election outcomes expected throughout the day (Large candidate fields may delay some final outcomes until Thursday 27 October) Data entry of all councils continues with release of 20% - 50% first entry figures during the day

Hand throw of the Hobart Elector Poll

Wednesday 26 October - Wednesday 3 November

Continuation until completion of double data entry of councillor ballot papers. Once completed, all councillor positions will be announced.
