Regional residents will soon get to talk to Council face-to-face, with Community Meetings scheduled to commence in Greenvale, Hervey Range, Homestead, Pentland, and Ravenswood.

The meetings, which are held annually, will take place over the coming months commencing on 16 August 2022 in Ravenswood at the School of Arts Hall.

Mayor Frank Beveridge said these meetings are a great opportunity for all regional residents to talk directly with Council’s Elected Members and staff.

“The Charters Towers Region is the fourth largest local government area in Queensland and is close to the size of Tasmania, so having these meetings in the outlying townships provides the opportunity for face-to-face discussions whilst reducing the travel required for residents in the outlying areas.

“Unlike residents in Charters Towers, the opportunities to visit Council’s Administration Centre to talk with myself, fellow Councillors or staff are limited,” said Mayor Beveridge.

The Community Meetings are a great opportunity for regional residents to have their say about any issues they feel need Council’s attention or further discussion and all residents are encouraged to attend.

Residents are also urged to register and put forward questions or topics that they may want discussed.

Mayor Beveridge said registrations will assist with catering and no topic will be off the table.

“If people put forward their questions, we can then make sure we have as much information as possible in front of us when we go along to the meeting, hopefully removing the need to come back with answers at a later date, as well as allowing full and robust conversation,” Mayor Beveridge said.

The meetings are scheduled as follows:

Ravenswood School of Arts Hall – Tuesday, 16 August 2022; Commencing 10am Greenvale Community Hall – Saturday, 15 October 2022; Commencing at 10am Hervey Range Community Hall – Saturday, 15 October 2022; Commencing at 2:30pm Homestead Community Hall – Tuesday, 13 September 2022; Commencing 10am Pentland Soldiers Memorial Hall – Tuesday, 13 September 2022; Commencing 12:30pm
