Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will soon begin construction work to repair a flood damaged culvert on O’Leary Road, Ellangowan, from next week (weather permitting).

TRC Infrastructure Services Group Committee Chair Councillor Carol Taylor said the works were part of an extensive program repairing damage from the recent flood events across the region.

“The work will repair a culvert located about 1.6km from the Clifton – Leyburn Road intersection,” Cr Taylor said.

“The project will require a full road closure for the duration of the works, a detour will be in place using the Leyburn – Cunningham, Toowoomba – Karara and Clifton – Leyburn roads, a route which is about 20 minutes.

“We are aware this is an extensive detour, however with the local road network and the nature of the works, we have no other option,” Cr Taylor said.

“We are asking motorists to be prepared for the delay or consider if there are alternative routes that suit their journey while we carry out these important works.”

Construction company Bellrise Investments has been engaged to deliver these works on behalf of Council.

Work will be undertaken from Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm. Weekend work may also be required.

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-July 2022, weather permitting.

Council will seek to minimise disruptions as much as possible and thanks residents for their patience and co-operation.
