Charters Towers Regional Council is inviting amateur photographers in the Region to enter the photography competition where finalist’s images will be exhibited as part of Queensland Day celebrations.

The ‘Unearth Our Secrets’ theme was chosen to encourage entries that embody the very heart and soul of the Charters Towers Region.

The five categories include:

buildings/architecture; nature/outdoors; events; time lapse; and drone image.

Cr Sonia Bennetto, whose portfolio includes Arts and Culture, said that the Photography Competition is a great opportunity for the community to share photographs of what they love about the Charters Towers Region.

“Council is very excited to host a photography competition that showcases our Region on Queensland Day as part of the 150 year celebrations.

“We’re looking for photographs that encompass the theme ‘Unearth Our Secrets’, be it our natural surrounds, our buildings or our events.

“I would like to encourage all residents and visitors (who reside in Queensland) to take part in this competition and submit their photographs.  Whether you’re school aged, or an adult, we would like to see a large variety of photographs from our community showing different perspectives of the theme ‘Unearth Our Secrets’.

“A ‘People’s Choice’ prize of $250 will be awarded to the photograph which receives the most votes during the Queensland Day celebrations,” said Cr Bennetto

Photo competition finalists will be on display during the Queensland Day – Celebrating Faces & Places of Charters Towers Street Party on Mosman Street, between Gill and Marion Streets, from 3pm to 8pm on Sunday, 5 June 2022.

The competition closes 9am Monday, 30 May 2022.
