Celebrate Autumn Festival with Free Live Music in Your Local Park!

Published on 24 March 2022

With live music being put on hold over the last couple of years, Macedon Ranges Shire Council is helping residents make up for lost time with a series of free Live Music Park Pop Ups across eight villages as part of the Autumn Festival.

These family-friendly concerts will feature local bands performing in parks in Kyneton, Woodend, Riddells Creek, Lancefield, Macedon, Romsey and Riddells Creek. The final pop up, Music on the Village Green, will be held in Malmsbury on Sunday 24 April to celebrate the end of the festival.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to pick up takeaway from a local food business and bring along a picnic blanket to enjoy music under the autumn leaves.

A variety of entertainment is on offer, including a dose of smooth jazz and funk by The SoSaxy Band, The Ranges Little Big Band playing their huge big band sounds, and rhythm and blues outfit Big Horn & the Six String Bandits delivering a right hook of rockin’ country and left jab of sweet soul music!

Shaun Evans from local business Ranges Events is excited to bring some of the Macedon Ranges' top musical talent to the streets.

“Our local muso team are being supported by featured artists from the Macedon Ranges Youth In Music (MR YIM) program who will be warming up and delighting our crowds. Bring your dance shoes and pack a picnic basket full of local goods for the family to share while you're movin' and groovin' outdoors!” he said.

The popular nine-piece New Orleans-style street band The Funkateers will add to the party atmosphere by performing along Kyneton’s Piper Street during the farmers market before playing in the Kyneton Botanic Gardens.

There are also plenty of other local musicians playing at ticketed events during the festival, from pubs to wineries and cider houses.
