Help shape Sunraysia’s next major growth corridor

Published on 25 February 2022

Sunraysia residents have a chance to help shape Mildura’s next major growth corridor by responding to a new document setting out some key ideas about how the Mildura East Growth Area will develop in coming years.

The Mildura East Growth Area extends from Irymple to Nichols Point and from Cowra Avenue to Irymple.

Mildura Rural City Council held two rounds of community consultation in September and November last year, collecting feedback from the community, industry and stakeholders as part of development of the Mildura East Growth Area Strategic Framework Plan.

This feedback was presented in a draft Vision and Key Directions document, which Council is seeking further comment and input on from the community.

Residents attended a series of drop-on sessions earlier this month, and now have a final opportunity to provide additional feedback on the draft Vision and Key Directions document.

The Mildura East Growth Area Strategic Framework Plan is an important document as it sets out some key ideas about how the area detailed in the Mildura East Growth corridor will evolve in coming years, including the staging of development.

It establishes crucial directions for the identity of both Irymple and Nichols Point residential areas, as well as nominating a ‘green wedge’ area in between these areas, which retains an agricultural focus.

Landowners and residents are encouraged to provide their thoughts on the new document to ensure it is based on sound information and can achieve the end vision for the area.

Residents can view the draft Vision and Key Directions document online or in hard copy:

Online: Visit the Mildura East Area Strategic Framework Plan project page at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/MEGA_SF (an online survey is also accessible from this page).

Hard copy: Council’s Madden and Deakin Avenue Service Centres, and the Mildura Library.

Written feedback can be emailed to [email protected] or posted to:
