Have your say on the future of Romsey

Published on 21 February 2022

Macedon Ranges Shire Council is seeking community feedback to help shape the long term future of Romsey and develop a new Romsey Structure Plan.

Romsey is a township that under current policy is planned to fulfil the role of a large district town.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the purpose of developing the new Romsey Structure Plan is to ensure levels of development are consistent with the role of the town and take into consideration infrastructure provision and environmental constraints.

“Statement of Planning Policy for the Macedon Ranges requires a town boundary for Romsey to be confirmed as part of this process. This round of consultation is aimed at further identifying and confirming protection of the positive elements of the township and builds on the feedback provided in response to the Romsey Issue and Opportunities Paper of 2018

“A new structure plan in Romsey will provide certainty to landowners, community, business, referral authorities and other regulators and stakeholders.”

“Consultation on the Romsey Structure Plan is running for six weeks from 21 February to 1 April 2022 and we welcome community interest and involvement as this project progresses through further stages,” she said.

Consultants Plan2Place have prepared an Emerging Options Paper to help inform community discussions.
