While the premiere event at the Tors Drive-In has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, the Region is being urged to tune in at home and watch the series 7 premiere of Australian Survivor on Channel 10 at 7:30pm on Monday, 31 January 2022.

Mayor Frank Beveridge is urging the Charters Towers community to tune in and support a production that has already brought so much to their community.

“This series will showcase our unique natural landscapes, nationally and globally, so it will be particularly special to residents in our Region.

“Everyone in our community has made this production experience a positive one.  We expect the benefits of this production will be felt for a very long time”, he said.

The community has reaped the benefits of hosting up to 350 people over the seven months of filming in 2021.

The production brought an estimated boost to the local economy of between $5 – 7 million, and over 100 Charters Towers locals gained the opportunity to work on the production.

The community is encouraged to watch the series from home and witness the work that Endemol Shine Australia has done in our Region says Mayor Beveridge.

“Council has worked closely with Endemol Shine Australia to bring Survivor to our Region,” he said.

From the initial talks of hosting Survivor in 2020 to the release of the first episode in 2022, Council is truly excited to see the final product says Mayor Beveridge.
