Central Highlands receives the trifactor by hosting this year’s Rural Management Challenge

The first week of November will see the Central Highlands welcome participants from across Central Queensland to the Local Government Managers Australia Rural Management Challenge.

This year’s event will challenge teams of four from several Central Queensland regional councils to participate in a wide range of tasks simulating business-related activities managed by the council on a day-to-day basis.

The programme develops real-life problem-solving experiences and produces outcomes translating into relevant, tangible, and enduring benefits for individuals, teams, and organisations.

Central Highlands Regional Council has put together a strong team for this year’s challenge with a diverse array of skills covering public relations, planning, infrastructure, and information technology.

‘Taking part in the challenge is an excellent opportunity for our staff to hone their trade, develop important local government skills and bring back knowledge from other councils,’ said Central Highlands Regional Council Acting Chief Executive Officer Michael Parker.

‘There would be nothing better than having a win on home soil, and I have a good feeling about our chances at this year’s challenge.’

‘Having watched the team prepare over the previous couple of months, they have made a strong start and are working together like a well-oiled machine.’

With all visiting council representatives expected to stay in the region for a couple of nights, this event will show off the region and give the local economy a little boost.

‘Hosting the Rural Management Challenge is an excellent opportunity to encourage tourism from our neighbouring councils looking for a weekend getaway,’ said Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Kerry Hayes.

‘All-in-all bringing the rural management challenge to the region is the trifactor, good for the economy, good for tourism and good for the community.’
