Labourer Facilities (Handyperson)

We have an opportunity for a multi-skilled, motivated individual to join our Facilities team. The Labourer Facilities (Handyperson) is responsible for providing high-level labouring skills in relation to maintenance activities for Council-owned buildings, facilities and other structures within the Mareeba Shire.  Typical duties include tasks relating to tiling, painting, plastering, joinery, floor coverings, flat-pack assembly, window and door locks, non-structural strip-outs and undertaking renovations to Council buildings and facilities.

The Labourer Facilities (Handyperson) is required to assist with after-hours work and be part of an on-call support roster for the Facilities section.

The position involves physically demanding work in a hot and humid climate on a daily basis.  Applicants must be physically fit to efficiently and effectively undertake these tasks. Council may require applicants to undergo a full physical pre-employment medical examination which includes drug and alcohol testing.  This role includes a requirement to maintain a weight at or below the Safe Working Load (SWL) for the seat of the machinery and equipment being operated.

Permanent, full time position LGEA Level 3 – Base wage of $1,990.23 per fortnight Additional Industry Allowance of $55.50 per fortnight and other allowances as applicable Up to 12% superannuation 5 weeks annual leave Rostered Day Off every fortnight
