COVID-19 and keeping our community safe (31 August 2021)

Published on 31 August 2021

Council is aware of the two active cases within the shire. Over the past 18 months our community has rallied together and supported each other. Because people are doing the right things, including isolating and getting tested if they have any symptoms at all, we have largely kept our community safe. This is an extraordinary achievement and we need to keep going.

A few simple behaviours can have a huge impact on keeping you and your loved ones safe:

Check in everywhere, every time with QR codes or by writing your name and details on the sign-in sheets provided Face masks must be worn indoors and outdoors whenever you leave your home Keep social distancing Maintain good hand and cough hygiene Get tested immediately if you have any symptoms at all Get vaccinated as soon as you can.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Central Highlands Rural Health, Hepburn Shire Council and Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health have endorsed a co-designed information campaign, ‘Get the Jab Done’, to ensure community members have consistent and trusted vaccination messaging across the region.

‘Get the Jab Done’ communicates the clear message that vaccination will assist in keeping our community safe. Over the next few months you might notice campaign messaging popping up in health and community facilities across the region, as well as in print media. It’s all aimed at encouraging our community to ‘get the jab done’.

A COVID-19 vaccine will help protect individuals, their loved ones and their communities too. We encourage everyone across our region to roll up their sleeves and “get the jab done”.

Council’s COVID-19 Recovery Operations Centre continues to respond to community requests for help and information. For local information and support, call Customer Service on (03) 5422 0333 or email [email protected]
