Burnie Athletic Club take on 321 Go Kids Race

Published on 27 August 2021

Burnie City Council are excited to announce that the future of the 321Go Kids Race has been secured with the Burnie Athletic Club Inc (BAC) committing to organise, manage and run the event on Council’s behalf.

Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said “This is a perfect example of the type of outcome we had planned and hoped for when Council announced that it had decided to change the way it delivers a number of services to the community and follows the announcement in June this year that EPIC Events & Marketing and the BAC will conduct the Burnie Ten road race.”

“Council has run an annual calendar of community events over the years which included the 321Go Kids Race and the Burnie Ten, however it decided not to continue to operate its own events and instead partner with art and cultural organisations; professional event management companies and community groups to fund the provision of events throughout the year. The BAC has had a keen interest in seeing the development of the 321Go Kids Race, with several of the Club’s members involved for some time.”

BAC President Gary Munro said, “We have been working with the long established 321Go committee to maintain the event’s continuity and retain the strong volunteer base.

“321Go has great synergies for BAC in enabling us to connect with young people and families and build on the pathway for continued athletic and sporting participation across the community. BAC has a strong history, culture and experience with event organisation and administration that will help to maintain and strengthen this important community activity.

“The 2021 321Go has been locked in for Sunday 7 November at West Park Burnie and we expect online entries to be opening in early September.”
