Bayside Acquisitive Art Prize finalists on show
Bayside City Council 11 May 2021

The Bayside Acquisitive Art Prize (BAAP) finalist exhibition is a celebration of the breadth and diversity of contemporary Australian painting. The show brings together a broad range of artists, both established and emerging.

The $15,000 Acquisitive Award and $3,000 Local Art Prize are judged by a panel of industry experts: Louise Tegart, Director, Art Gallery of Ballarat, Ryan Johnston, Head of Academic Programs, Museums and Collections, University of Melbourne, and Joanna Bosse, Bayside Gallery Curator.

Bayside Gallery Curator Joanna Bosse is delighted to be able to celebrate the finalists and is looking forward to announcing the winners on opening night.

“We’re very lucky to have this calibre of art at Bayside Galley,” Ms Bosse said.

“There’s truly something for everyone because there’s such a diverse range of works and most people respond to painting as a medium- it’s something a lot of us are familiar with and can engage with.”

Visitors to the exhibition can vote for their favourite painting to be recognised for the $1000 people’s choice award.

The finalist exhibition opens 14 May 2021 at Bayside Gallery- corner Carpenter and Wilson Street, Brighton.
