Beauty Point Stormwater Works Flinders Street/Charles Street intersection, Beauty Point

In preparation for the Beauty Point Foreshore Development, a review of the existing stormwater system was undertaken to identify assets in the vicinity of the development that were either approaching the end of current lifecycle, or would likely need to be renewed in the near future.

The Infrastructure Department determined that the work required to stormwater assets that met this criteria should be brought forward so that any conflicts with the foreshore development could be avoided, and rework would be minimised

Eight stormwater lines on Flinders’ Street were noted during this process as meeting the criteria. In conjunction with these works replacement of kerb, parking bays and footpaths were also considered so as a package of works could be undertaken as follows:

upgrade the existing stormwater network on Flinders Street between Mainwaring Street and the foreshore; upgrade the existing parking/pull off area on Flinders Street with asphalt, relocate/replace kerb; and provide a new concrete footpath and replace the road pavement where there was noticeable pavement failure.

These works will begin in the second week of May 2021 and will take approximately 16 weeks for our contractor Andrew Walters Construction to complete.

Some delays may occur in working hours between 7am-5pm Monday to Friday. Please avoid the area if possible.
