Mareeba Shire Council has a vacancy for a casual Library Assistant to provide relief and additional support for our library branches across the Shire.  The main responsibilities of the role include providing customer service, utilising reader and reference services, assisting library users with the use of technology and assisting library staff with administration tasks and the development and delivery of library programs and activities as required.

This is a casual position with the hours of work being on an ‘as required’ basis depending on the requirements of the branches for relief or additional support.  The successful applicant will have flexible availability and be willing to travel to work in the library branches in Kuranda, Mareeba and Dimbulah as required.

The position involves working in a dynamic library environment and requires high-level customer service skills and ideally a sound knowledge of computer literacy and knowledge of current library technologies.  Previous experience working in a library environment or the possession of a formal qualification in Library Studies is beneficial but not essential.
