Forage Gympie Region provides visitors a unique look into how food in the Gympie region is produced and, more importantly, eaten. From Saturday 1 to Sunday 30 May, Forage Gympie Region will display the best of the region all packed into the month.

“We want the rest of Australia to discover what we here in the Gympie region have known all along,” said Mayor Glen Hartwig.

“It’s important to acknowledge that factors like COVID-19 have had a real impact on our businesses, especially our local food outlets, which is tragic because we have some of the best produce around.

“Council felt it important to jump in and create an event that would not only highlight our awesome primary producers, but also bring people from outside the region to us,” Mayor Hartwig said.

Forage Gympie Region takes on an events and activities format over the month of May.

Some of the region’s premier food and agribusiness operators have signed on as part of the program; delivering a true paddock and farm gate to plate experience.

You can discover what regenerative farming really means at a Forage Farms tour, taste the flavours of the bush at Grazing in Goomeri: Dinner Under the Stars or embrace the world of gut health with nutritionist, local farmer and passionate fermenter Victoria Kane for a hands-on workshop on fermentation.

Forage Gympie Region is an initiative of Gympie Regional Council.
