Gannawarra Shire Council’s Warra Waders learn to swim program continues to grow with more than 60 participants taking part in the rejuvenated program this year.

Based at the Kerang Exercise Pool, the Warra Waders Learn to Swim program has partnered with Royal Life Saving Australia’s Swim and Survive initiative. The partnership aims to enhance swimming and water safety skills of children aged six months to seven years.

“Learning to swim is an important life skill, especially with the number of rivers, lakes and waterways throughout the Gannawarra,” Mr Higgins said.

“Council’s partnership with Royal Life Saving Australia’s Swim and Survive program ensures our youngest residents have the necessary water skills, which will help prevent drowning now and in the future.”

Enrolments for Term 2 sessions, which will run weekly from Monday, 19 April through to Friday, 25 June, are open until 5pm Tuesday, 6 April.

“I encourage families throughout the Gannawarra to consider enrolling their children in this program.” Mr Higgins said.
