Wyndham Council Youth Services is excited to announce Sri Thivashia (Sasha) Sri Deenathayalan as the November recipient of the One Wyndham award.

One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 and 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘young person of the month’.

Winners are awarded a $200 gift voucher of their choice, a Star Weekly advert and other prizes.

November recipient, Sri Thivashia Sri (Sasha) Deenathayalan is passionate about social justice and works hard to build connection in her community.

Sasha is the youth representative on the Wyndham West District Advisory Committee and dedicates her time to ensure young people are being heard in the community.

As school captain, Sasha is driven to improve communication between students and the school.

Sasha is also passionate about the environment and has organised clean up days for Wyndham residents.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Adele Hegedich, said the One Wyndham award enables young people to be inspired by the work of their peers.

“The time, dedication and passion of each young person has a positive impact not only on the people around them, but on Wyndham as a whole.” Cr Hegedich said.

“We celebrate the ways youth are engaging in Wyndham life be it through volunteering, advocacy or innovation.”

“We value their contribution in making Wyndham a thriving and supportive place.”
