Maroondah seniors are invited to sing, groove, dance and jive in their own home to a variety of well-known Broadway classics with star of the stage and screen, Luke Alleva.

The Karralyka stage is bringing ‘Move & Groove Broadway Hits’ - a pre-recorded 40-minute interactive song and dance show that promises a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Accompanied by two fabulous dancers, experienced choreographer and The Boy From Oz star will demonstrate both seated dance and some gentle standing movement viewers can enjoy from the comfort of their armchair or lounge room.

Luke promises to take viewers through the classic toe-tapping eras when music and dance had “style, grace and charisma”.

“The beauty of a show like this is that you can sit, stand or dance around in your living room. We promise it’ll be a fun show with songs many people have grown up with, from musicals like Singing in the Rain, Grease, Guys and Dolls, Rocky, which is a personal favourite, and there’ll be a bit of banter thrown in as well,” says Luke.

The 22-year musical theatre veteran has danced, sung and acted his way across the world to London’s West End, with theatre credits including Hot Shoe Shuffle, Mamma Mia!, A Chorus Line, The Rocky Horror Show, We Will Rock You and Saturday Night Fever.

Luke is also no stranger to the big screen, having starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor as lead Montmartre dancer in Baz Luhrmann’s film classic, Moulin Rouge!.

“I’m proud to have created a show that the community can enjoy, especially at a time when it’s been difficult for some people to be physically active.

“Streaming is a new way of doing things and it has meant that we’re still providing entertainment in some capacity. It’s an amazing program and I hope that as many people as possible get to enjoy it,” adds Luke.

Move & Groove to Broadway Hits will be streaming at 10.30am on Wednesday 2 December. To watch the performance, visit the
