Site revealed for new Legana school Jeremy Rockliff MP, Minister for Education and Training The new Legana primary school will be located at 612 West Tamar Highway.

The  Government has secured an in-principle agreement with the landowners for the joint purchase of 7.2 hectares of land in partnership with the West Tamar Council.

The announcement of a site is a significant milestone for the project, with the school expected to open to students in 2024.

Through our initial public consultation undertaken in March this year, community members provided suggestions for the preferred location for the school and the site at 612 West Tamar Highway is in keeping with this feedback.

We have a strong partnership with the Council and are working together to deliver the new primary school and a community sporting precinct for the Legana community.

A tender for the lead consultant for the primary school project will be issued next month and this means we will have a concept master plan for the school ready to present to the community for feedback in the first half of 2021.We know that schools are the heart of a community and that this will be an exciting place of connection for people in Legana.

West Tamar Mayor Christina Holmdahl said that the West Tamar Community would be pleased to see the Legana school progressing and the location locked down.

“Our community have a strong interest in the location of the Legana school and the associated infrastructure, and we look forward to consulting with them further as the master plan is created” said Mayor Holmdahl.
