Declared Dog Areas The West Tamar Council intends to declare the following areas under the Dog Control Act 2000

The West Tamar Council is inviting public submissions on the declaration of the below areas. The period for these submissions will close at 5:00 pm 16 OCTOBER 2020.

Maps are available for viewing at the Beaconsfield and Riverside Council Offices, or on the Declared Dog Areas page of our website.

Your submission is deemed to be received:

a. if delivered by hand or sent by prepaid post - upon delivery to 2-4 Eden Street, Riverside; or

b. if transmitted electronically - upon receipt by the sender of an electronic receipt notification (generated by the system transmitting the notice).

Exercise Areas – Off Lead:

RIVERSIDE

Addison Street area to the west of the Lions Park carpark. Eastern corner of Windsor Community Precinct.

LEGANA

Tanner Drive Reserve, 13 Tanner Drive. Bulman Drive Recreation Ground. Dogs permitted off lead on oval, except when sport is being played.

ROSEVEARS

Hall Street Recreation Ground inside the boundary of the sports oval. This area is UNFENCED.

GRAVELLY BEACH

ANZAC Park, off Beach Road.

EXETER

Murray Street, area to the east of the Exeter Community Hub.

BEACONSFIELD

Weld Street, southern area of RSL Park.

BEAUTY POINT

Western end of the Esplanade near the intersection with Mainwaring Street.

All exercise areas will be fenced (except Rosevears off leash area). Waste dispenser bags and bins, and appropriate signage will be provided.

When in an off lead exercise area, a dog must be under effective control. This includes:

Being in close proximity to the person; In sight of the person; and The person must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of an authorised person that the dog is immediately responsive to the person’s commands. Restricted Areas:

The following areas have been identified as areas where the activities of dogs need to be restricted.

Tailrace Park, TREVALLYN: Dogs are not permitted on the board walk area due to health and safety concerns. Windsor Community Precinct, RIVERSIDE: Dogs are not permitted on any of the playing fields at any time of the year, due to health and safety concerns. Prohibited Areas:

The following area has been made prohibited due to the presence of sensitive habitat for native wildlife. A person must not take a dog that is not a hearing dog or a guide dog into prohibited areas.

Greens Beach, GREENS BEACH: Any undeveloped area (where no boardwalk exists) of the sand dunes as well as the soft sand in front of the sand dunes, above the high water mark, to protect nesting and threatened shore birds.
