The National NAIDOC Committee have postponed National NAIDOC Week 2020 until November 8-15 due to the impacts of coronavirus and associated restrictions.

This year’s national theme is: “Always Was, Always Will Be”.

Given the current challenges faced by the Community, we have experienced big changes, the Victorian NAIDOC Committee have also decided to postpone our events to be held in line with the National NAIDOC Week in November.

That said, we do feel it is important to check-in and create a space to come together as best we can during these times and make sure that we don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal Communities, Histories and Cultures.

Therefore, we are excited to announce that we will be partnering with Aboriginal Victoria, 3KND, Arts Centre Melbourne, VACCHO and Victoria Together for an online concert. This online concert will be streamed on Saturday 11 July and will feature some well-known Aboriginal musicians and entertainers, stay tuned for further information.

If your organisation or community group has capacity to hold an online NAIDOC event, we encourage you to do so. You may wish to share your perspective on NAIDOC Week, highlighting how you have been able to support Community in the recent months.

It’s important that we celebrate NAIDOC whenever we can, anytime of the year. We are strong and proud in our culture and we should take any opportunity we have to showcase this. We hope that you can join us on Saturday 11 July for the deadly online concert!
