Pedestrian crossings to increase safety at Church St roundabout
Bayside City Council 25 Jun 2020

The Church Street and St Andrews Street roundabout in Brighton will soon have zebra crossings to give pedestrians priority and clear right of way at this busy intersection.

Council is expediting these works to begin in early August and be completed within three weeks, weather permitting. Access to shops will remain throughout the works so please continue to support local traders during this time.

When completed, pedestrian crossings at the Church and St Andrews Streets roundabout will improve pedestrian safety by slowing traffic and making pedestrians the priority. This will ensure easier, safer crossings, especially for elderly residents and school children, and encourage more people to explore the area on foot or by bike.

Works will take place between 7am and 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, in order to expedite the works and limit the period of disruption. Traffic management will be in place to direct motorists to use alternate routes throughout works, when required.

We will provide updates to Church Street traders, residents and the community, as the schedule of works and traffic management plans are finalised. Please sign up to receive updates via the project webpage at bayside.vic.gov.au/churchstreet
