COPACC & Colac Cinemas preparing for reopening

The Colac Otway community can look forward to a gradual return to movies and entertainment – in line with the easing of restrictions – from Friday 26 June.

Colac Otway Performing Arts and Cultural Centre’s Acting Manager Julie Kiernan said physical distancing and other restrictions would remain in place in accordance with State Government advice to reduce the spread of COVID19, however the easing of restrictions would allow for COPACC’s doors to reopen.

“We are pleased to confirm that Colac Cinemas are preparing to re-open from Friday 26 June, with limited movie screenings each day of the upcoming school holidays.

“The cinema provides a fantastic service to the Colac Otway community and it’s among the many facilities that our residents will have missed during the COVID19 response closures.

“Council is also looking forward to reopening COPACC from Friday 26 June, however our services will be limited, for example there will be no newspapers available for reading, in line with the State Government’s restrictions for libraries.

“Visitors who remain in the precinct for 15 minutes or longer will also need to provide their contact details.

“Our first exhibition after reopening will be presented in the COPACC Gallery by respected local photographer and digital artist Tim Lucas and entitled Otways Waterfalls.

“We welcome booking inquiries via telephone and email, with meeting rooms, the Civic Hall and other spaces soon to be available for hire, in line with restrictions.

“The COPACC team has started conversations with our regular clients to confirm tentative bookings made for the second half of 2020.

“We also plan to provide an update on the 2020 COPACC Theatre Season over the coming weeks, and hope to be able to resume our program with Newk on Friday 4 September,” Ms Kiernan said.

“COPACC is excited to be reopening and we will have more announcements soon, as we navigate how we present a variety of events and entertainment while meeting the staged easing of restrictions and keeping our community safe.”
