Scam alert: Coronavirus-related phishing scam Published: 15 May 2020

**SCAM ALERT** Cardinia Shire Council has been alerted to a Coronavirus (COVID-19) related phishing scam.

Please be advised the business claiming to be ‘Pakenham Tractors’, with website address https://pakenham-tractors.com/, does not exist. The scammers have falsely used Council’s Depot address and the Company registration information of a registered business trading in Pakenham as proof of identity. Council has reported this scam to ACCC ScamWatch and Victoria Police.

Do not call or email them as advised on their website. Do not provide your personal, banking or superannuation details to strangers who have approached you. Please share this information with your family and friends.

If you have been scammed or have seen a scam, you can make a report on the Scamwatch website at www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam, and find more information about where to get help online at www.scamwatch.gov.au/get-help.

Unfortunately, scammers are taking advantage of the spread of Coronavirus to take advantage of Australian consumers. Scammers are doing things such as falsely selling Coronavirus-related products online, and using fake emails, calls or text messages to obtain your personal information. Other scams include phishing emails and phone calls impersonating the World Health Organisation, government authorities, and legitimate businesses – including travel agents and telecommunications companies. You can report these scams and find information on where to get help on the Scamwatch website.
