March Council meeting to go ahead in Timboon

Published on 23 March 2020

The March Council meeting will be live streamed on Facebook in response to the Federal Government’s responsible social distancing requirements.

Mayor Neil Trotter said the meeting would be held as scheduled at the Timboon Hall but encouraged members of the public to minimise risk of coronavirus infection by staying away.

“Normally we like as many people as possible to come to our meetings, but in these unusual times we urge people to stay at home and watch it on Facebook.

“This will be the first time we have streamed a Council meeting so please bear with us if the sound or lighting aren’t perfect, but it is important for open and transparent local government that everybody has access to the proceedings.

“Meetings usually include an open forum during which people can ask questions or make a statement, but we’d like people to consider seriously if their matter can wait or be addressed another way.

“Residents can always call council on 5593 7100 or contact Councillors with any issues they have.

“Our mobile phone numbers are all listed on the Council website or you can call the Civic Centre to be transferred.”
