White Rock sporting and neighbourhood precinct update

Published: 26 Feb 2020

A football field, tennis court and netball/basketball court form part of preliminary concepts for the proposed White Rock Neighbourhood and Sports Centre.

The proposed precinct concept at the existing Tiffany Street Reserve together with a 2.7ha unused part of the White Rock School grounds – may also include changing rooms, community hall with kitchen and office facilities, playground, and car parking for about 80 vehicles.

Over the next three years it is proposed to undertake detailed engineering studies, the construction of playing fields and further budget refining of the other stages.

Preliminary consultation for the White Rock Neighbourhood and Sports Centre has already been undertaken in collaboration with the White Rock School, Department of Education and Training, a community reference group (established in late 2017), Yarning Circle engagement with indigenous representatives, and at local community events.

The report to Council identified the need for further consultation once more certainty about budgets and time lines was established.

Council has budgeted $3.12 million to deliver the first stage over the next three years.

Additional consultation will help assist in defining specific needs in terms of user group identification, proposed centre floor areas, and management structures.
