Following the first round of community consultation on the City Plan, Gold Coasters are again being invited to have their say, this time on proposed significant changes.

Planning Committee Chair Councillor Cameron Caldwell said the second round of public consultation sought feedback on major changes to 11 of the 34 items within the City Plan.

“The first round of consultation last year attracted 1203 community submissions. We’re now inviting people to have their say on the significantly different items,” he said.

The 11 significantly different items relate to:

Items 1 & 2 - Building height overlay map and new building height categories

Item 3 - New low-medium density residential zone

Item 9 - Built form improvements

Item 11 - Existing Light Rail urban renewal area overlay map

Item 14 - Driveways and vehicle crossings update

Item 15 - Targeted growth areas

Item 16 - Urban expansion: Upper Coomera Investigation area

Item 20 - Neighbourhood centre improvements

Item 22 - Environmental mapping

Item 23 - Rural and Rural-residential landscape and environment precinct

Item 26 - Community infrastructure – interface areas.

Cr Caldwell said City officers had worked tirelessly on closely examining the first round of submissions to ensure all community feedback was taken on board.

“The City Plan reflects our ongoing commitment to managing the city’s extraordinary growth responsibly and we’ve listened in an effort to safeguard the lifestyle we all love,” he said.

The consultation period runs from 6 January to 12 February 2020.

On completion and consideration of the second public consultation, the amendment package will be sent to the State Government requesting approval for adoption. Council will then consider the City Plan for final adoption. This process may take three to six months.
