“On behalf of my fellow Councillors, and all the staff at Maroondah City Council, I’d like to offer my warmest wishes to everyone during this time of celebration and festivity,” Mayor of Maroondah Cr Mike Symon said.

“The Christmas season provides us with the opportunity to catch up with family and friends and to celebrate the joy of giving.

“It’s also a time to remember those in our community who are less fortunate and to extend goodwill whenever we can. This Christmas, support local charitable organisations, give where you can and show kindness to strangers.

“Let’s take some of the goodwill and human fellowship into the new year and make 2020 a year of hope and peace for everyone,” he said.

Cr Symon encouraged residents to celebrate the season in a responsible manner and to extend that care to others.

“As we all know, Christmas and the new year period is a very busy time on our roads. With the anticipation to join loved ones, enjoy festive parties and reach holiday destinations, I urge everyone in the community to take care and drive responsibly,” Cr Symon said.

“I am very much looking forward to 2020. The year promises to be a big one for our city, with some exciting major projects to be completed, including the HE Parker sporting pavilion, and works to start on the new Silcock Reserve and Cheong Park sporting pavilions.

“I also look forward to seeing plans for the Croydon Community Precinct developed further in consultation with the community and user groups.”

“And as always, there will also be plenty of community events to enjoy and new initiatives to get involved in.

“On behalf of all of us here at Maroondah City Council, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and we look forward with anticipation to another great year in 2020.”
