City of Wodonga 4 Nov 2019

From 24 March 2020, HotHouse Theatre brings artists from across the country to the border region of Albury Wodonga, with a season focusing on powerful theatre and great conversations.

Developed to complement the existing excellence of independent artists and producers in the region, Australian stories take to the stage traversing themes of redemption, reconnection, renewal, revolution and reform. There is much to talk about.

“In 2020 we want to connect our community through activating a bold season of shared experiences. In sharing a space together, we listen, making space to spark great conversations as we discuss the issues that matter in real people’s lives”, says Karla Conway, Artistic Director HotHouse Theatre.

Alongside the Season program, HotHouse Theatre highlights CELSIUS, it’s Independent Theatre program for local professional artists to make and develop works for the stage.

“CELSIUS is a program close to the heart of HotHouse Theatre. While our season celebrates and showcases the powerful voices of artists across the nation, equally we have a community of powerful artistic voices right here in our region. These are local artists, with local stories, intended for your ears. CELSIUS: Independent Theatre empowers local independent professionals to drive the development of works that they want to make, championed by the company and supported by the community.”

HotHouse Theatre is a not-for-profit theatre company based on the border of NSW & Victoria in Albury Wodonga. We incubate, make and present Australian theatre, divergent in form and voice; and activate audiences to passionately engage in arts and culture, to embrace and value creativity as part of their everyday lives.
