Patience key as council switches on new corporate software system

Posted on October 30, 2019

The Central Highlands Regional Council will roll out new corporate software in early November, marking the most significant transformation for the organisation since amalgamation.

Chief Executive Officer Scott Mason said the implementation of the cloud-based OneCouncil system had involved project partnerships with Technology One, All About Xpert Technologies Australia and Strategic Directions over the past two years.

‘Our existing software has been outdated for some time, lacking integration and restricting the way we operate,’ Mr Mason said.

‘The OneCouncil solution will give our staff the right tools to get the job done and enable us to work from anywhere at any time. In turn, this will increase efficiency within the organisation and reduce costs.

‘As a medium-sized regional council with distance and connectivity challenges, we are proud to be at the forefront of this innovative technology.

‘When it comes to corporate software for local government and the OneCouncil solution, we are one of the leading councils in Queensland and that’s a great achievement.

‘As with any software roll-out, there will be a transition period. But once up and running, this new system will help make it easier than ever to do business with us.’

Mr Mason said in the week leading up to the switch over, there would be some changes to payment processes that could affect customers.

‘For example, if you are making a payment to council from 4 November to 11 November you may be issued a manual receipt,’ he said.

‘There could also be some minor delays to suppliers who provide materials and services to council during this week due to a temporary hold on the raising of purchase orders. However, we are working hard to ensure the changeover is as seamless as possible.
