Grab your swimmers and dive into your local pool with Western Downs Regional Council partnering with SwimFit to deliver a fun way of keeping cool this November.

Residents and visitors of the region are invited to make a splash at the third-round of summer pool parties, aimed to enhance the active, vibrant communities of the Western Downs.

Held in five different locations, including Jandowae, Tara, Miles, Chinchilla and Dalby, these events are open and accessible to all residents.

As part of the events, attendees can take on the challenge of making it across the monster inflatable while listening to music provided by the DJ.

Local community groups will also be getting involved at each event by putting on a sausage sizzle, with all proceeds going back to their club.

Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said she was thrilled that the parties are being offered once again, and looked forward to seeing residents enjoying the facilities.

“Our community members are our loudest advocates when it comes to letting us know what is wanted in the region and given how successful previous pool parties have been, we will be delivering more this year,” she said.

“These fantastic events offer a fun way to cool down from the warm weather as well as gives community groups the opportunity to do some fundraising of their own.”

SwimFit representative Grant Belcher said the pool parties brought another level of atmosphere to the facilities and provided an opportunity to enjoy a day of entertainment with fellow community members.

“This is a fun community event which draws a lot of activity, you see people come to the pool who wouldn’t usually which acts as a reminder that these great facilities are available to them,” he said.

“These events also work as a distraction to some who may be going through hard times, allowing people to put those struggles behind them for a couple of hours and come and enjoy themselves.”

Pool parties will take place in Jandowae on 2 November, Tara on 9 November, Miles on 16 November, Chinchilla on 24 November and Dalby on 30 November, between 2pm to 4pm.

Cost of entry to the pools will be reduced to only two dollars and food and drinks will be available for purchase. Lifeguards will be on duty to ensure a safe environment.
