With Spring in full swing, the Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) healthy communities’ initiative, the CHANGE Project, has welcomed three new providers to the Highfields and Crows Nest communities.

TRC Parks and Recreation Portfolio Leader, Cr Joe Ramia said that the new Circuit Classes, Holistic Nature Play and Chair Yoga classes will add to the many opportunities to get out and active in our Region.

“The TRC CHANGE project provides affordable health and fitness options for the Toowoomba Region community, including these new providers, to support and promote positive and mental wellbeing,” Cr Ramia said.

“The community of Crows Nest has the chance to get active with a new Circuit Class offered three days a week at the Crows Nest Indoor Sports Centre.

“The classes will rotate between different exercises that are adjusted to suit individual fitness levels.

“The Holistic Nature Play Group is for all families, all ages and available each Friday morning in the gorgeous setting of Peacehaven Park.

“Participants will gather together in a picnic-style under the Crows Ash tree near the Playground and the creativity and imagination take over from there.

“The new Chair Yoga classes provided each week at Highfields Sport and Recreation Centre and Crows Nest Community and RSL Centre combines yoga with the support of being in a chair.

“Chair Yoga provides the benefits of loosening and stretching painful muscles, a chance to reduce stress, improve circulation and improved balance.

“The new providers join a broad range of low-cost activities and wellness options that are available through the award-winning CHANGE project.”
