The community is invited to comment on a new Sport, Active Recreation and Healthy Living Plan for the Toowoomba Region.

Toowoomba Regional Council’s Environment and Community portfolio leader, Cr Joe Ramia said the Plan will identify and deliver policies, places and programs to support sport, active recreation and healthy living within the region.

“The plan will set the region’s vision and outline goals and actions focused on sport, active recreation and healthy living from 2019 to 2026”, Cr Ramia said.

“It will help create healthier, more active communities by encouraging more people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be active, eat well and live well.

“More than 1000 community members including representatives from sports clubs, nature-based recreation organisations and walk and cycle groups helped shape the draft plan through completing surveys and attending workshops during the past twelve months.”

Cr Ramia said Council is now inviting community feedback on the draft plan.

“The community can have their say on the draft plan until Friday 25 October 2019,” Cr Ramia said.

“Everyone is encouraged to share their throughs and ideas by completing an online survey at Council’s Your Say website: yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au/sarhl. Hard copy surveys are also available at customer service centres.”

Community feedback will be used to guide the development of the final plan presented to Council for endorsement from late 2019.

The Queensland Government provided $60,000 to TRC to develop the Sport, Active Recreation and Healthy Living Plan 2019-26 to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities.
