Repeat buyers drive Jarrah sale clearance...
Boulia Shire Council 18 Sep 2019

Jarrah Genetics hosted their annual bull sale on Monday with repeat buyers leading the bidding on both the Hereford and Jarrah Red Sale bulls.

A total of 47 from 56 bulls sold for a clearance of 84pc to record an average of $4,468.

Principal of Jarrah Genetics Sam Becker said he was overwhelmed with the support on the day.

"The highlight of the day was the calibre of commercial operations that are choosing to source genetics from Jarrah with many of these repeat buyers and also a number of new clients," he said.

"We had people from Atherton Tablelands in FNQ to Boulia in the West as well as many locals purchasing bulls. Buyers recognised the need for enhanced MSA compliance with the British influence in their breeding programs and are able to source these genetics from our adapted CQ herd."

It was Hereford Lot 8 Jarrah Odyssey N089 (H) that recorded the top price of the day hitting $7,000, purchased by northern cattleman Matthew Crowley, Charters Towers.

Top priced Jarrah Red bull sold for $6,500 to Scott and Kelly Becker, Paranui Pastoral Company, Theodore.

Repeat client William Wilson, Calliope Station, Calliope was the volume buyer of the day, buying a total of eight bulls with a breakdown of six Hereford bulls and two Jarrah Red bulls.

"The Jarrah bulls have been doing the job in our operation for a number of years now and the quality we are seeing in the progeny speaks for itself," he said.

"Today the Hereford bulls were definitely value for money bulls so it was a good opportunity to purchase a few to replace some older bulls. Lot 1 was the bull that I am particularly excited to purchase. We will use him over our purebred Hereford herd to breed herd bulls for our operation."

Lot 1 Jarrah Anzac H006 N044 (S) is in the top 1pc of the breed for 200, 400 and 600 day growth and the top 5% for EMA and Grain Fed Index Value.

Agent Matthew Bishop from Hourn and Bishop said the bulls were a credit to the Becker family.
