Do you have a community safety-related project or idea that could benefit from a grant? 

Community groups are invited to apply for grants through the Victorian Government’s Community Safety Fund. Funding of up to $10,000 (GST ex) is available for stream 1 projects and funding of up to $25,000 (GST ex) is available for stream 2 projects. 

Projects may include:  

security equipment and infrastructure, such as locks, vandal-proof security lighting, security screens, alarms without video surveillance, fencing and gates  activities engaging the community in small-scale, physical improvements and upgrades to public spaces such as streetscapes, parks and reserves to improve community use of these areas  education and awareness initiatives focused on home safety, theft of and from motor vehicles, theft of personal property in public places, theft from businesses and supporting the understanding of the Victorian justice system. 

The City of Ballarat is committed to working with the community to create safe neighbourhoods, places and spaces, where people feel safe and empowered to lead fulfilling lives. 

Crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Community-designed solutions to local crime and community safety issues are important as research shows local approaches to crime prevention are effective.  

Local partnerships help people to feel safer and be more engaged in their communities to address local crime problems. Crime prevention activities seek to influence people, environments or neighbourhoods to reduce the likelihood that crime will occur.
