Geographic Naming Proposal - Fowler Lane, Red Cliffs

Council has receive a request to name a roadway in Red Cliffs as indicated on the attached plan, Fowler Lane.

It is important for emergency services to have named roadways and the opportunity to recognise a local family name is very appropriate.

Percy Clement Fowler was born in London on 25 June 1904, he arrived in Australia from the UK in 1923 and moved to Red Cliffs in 1928 working as a blockie and at Ramsay’s Orange House. Percy married Ella Wolf in 1935 and they both lived and worked in Red Cliffs. Percy served in the Australian Army during WWII, 1935-1945.

Percy and Ella purchased 1 Heytesbury Avenue Red Cliffs in 1947, he lived there until his death in 1977, aged 73. Percy and Ella had three children Elizabeth, Diana and Chris who all enjoyed coming to 1 Heytesbury Avenue for holidays with the grandchildren. Percy was active in the sporting community, umpiring soccer and junior cricket, he was a member of the Red Cliffs Bowling Club and was a past Club Champion. Percy was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Red Cliffs.

Percy worked at the Red Cliffs Cooperative for over 30 years, he enjoyed his work assisting other new migrants in horticultural practises

The name complies with the naming principles for the Naming rules for places in Victoria. Submissions on this proposal will be received up to 30 days from this notice.
