Relax, unwind and let us entertain you
City of Wodonga 16 Aug 2019

Fridays don’t get much better than this when the ever-popular, family-fun event Fridays on My Mind returns for the 2019-2020 season.

Fridays on My Mind will be heading out to four new locations across the city – Belvoir Park, Baranduda Reserve, Willow Park and Junction Square – for the four new dates.

The new locations are due to the library-gallery redevelopment, which is expected to start in spring.

The festivities will start on Friday, October 4 with Fridays on My Mind setting up at Belvoir Park.

It will then head to Baranduda Reserve on Friday, November 1 before Willow Park on Friday, March 13 and Junction Square on Friday, April 3.

“The new format will bring a new line-up of music and entertainment but the same, relaxed atmosphere from previous years,” Manager Cultural Services Simone Hogg said.

“It will be a great opportunity to take event to other areas in Wodonga for residents to enjoy the fun of Fridays on My Mind.”

Groove Resolution will headline the Belvoir Park edition. They describe themselves as a postmodern jukebox inspired band playing modern music in various styles from traditional jazz to swing to Motown.

The nine-piece band will put a twist on well-known songs such as Africa by Toto and Britney Spears’ Oops I Did It Again.

“Groove Resolution takes modern music back in time to an era where flapper dresses and fedoras reigned supreme right through to the swing era and Motown,” reed player Brett Spokes said.

“We provide a style that drives home the vintage style of modern music. They will all enjoy singing and dancing along.”

The band has members located in Melbourne and Wagga. They will be joined by Border talent Hattie Evans, an indie singer-songwriter.

Hattie, a student, has completed and succeeded in a number of school music events. She will compete at the nationals of Rockfest in September.

She also played Christine in the school production of Phantom of the Opera this year.
